Thank you to those that joined us for the Risk-Based Inspection 101 session we held with Mike Dehghan from Mechinteg!
.A big thank you to Mike for sharing an in-depth look and a practical introduction to RBI. As well as our members that attended, we appreciate your engagement and interest in building stronger, more effective asset integrity and inspection programs.
During the session, we explored how Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) supports safer, more reliable operations by focusing inspection effort where it matters most. Key themes included:
- RBI helps align inspection with actual risk, improving safety and efficiency
- Key elements include DMR, POF/COF, inspection planning, and risk mitigation
- Revalidation and documentation are essential to program integrity
- A successful RBI program depends on data quality, team qualifications, and traceability
- API 580 provides the framework – execution depends on understanding and discipline
Through examples and practical insights, the session highlighted how RBI can reduce unnecessary inspections, improve reliability, and support better decision-making across asset-intensive environments.
