2018 National Forum Keynote Speakers

Now that we've almost closed out on this year's National Forum, I thought I'd take the time to highlight the amazing job done by our inspirational and keynote speakers.

Tim BakerTim Baker from Winners at Work kicked off day 1 with his presentation on 'Creating a Culture of Conversation for Performance & Development'.

Tim took us through the concept of his unconventional '5 Conversations' replacing the, often disliked and traditional performance review.

There was a definite 'buzz' in the room after the crowd listened to Tim explain the simple process of how a few conversations can eliminate the dreaded yearly review!  It also highlighted that as a nation, we have lost the ability to talk openly and honestly with our leaders which isn't conducive to a healthy relationship in our workplace.

While many people are skeptical of new approaches, I can certainly vouch for Tim's process after it was implemented in our own company.  Our '5 Conversations' process has given us the opportunity to connect with our leaders and focus on our own strengths and goals, and it's no longer something to be worried or cautious of.

Jamie GetgoodKicking off day 2 was Jamie Getgood from Getgood Consulting presenting 'Industry Skill Requirements for the Future'.  Jamie took us through the journey of the Holden closure...and what a story it was!

The support that was given to the unfortunate employee's of this iconic brand was second to none.  The transition plan put in place when the decision was made to close its doors, was paramount to assist staff in moving on and ensuring they were secure in the path to their new life journey.

Jamie's video that was played at the forum is a brief insight into their journey and thought it would be nice to share.  Be careful, it's been known to shed a little tear!  Enjoy!

Brooke HansonFinally at the end of day 2, Brooke Hanson, our very special Inspirational Speaker took us through her journey of courage and determination.  The years of hard work and dedication to the sport that she's so very passionate about paid off at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, winning an individual silver medal and a gold medal with the relay team.  She then went on to win six gold medals at the FINA World Short Course Championships.

If you ever get the opportunity to hear Brooke speak, you will walk away inspired, refreshed and ready to take on the world in whatever avenue you are thinking of taking.  If you're a bookworm and would like to read about her journey, her book is available to purchase via her website.

Once again, a big thank you to everyone involved in making the event as great as it was and we hope to see you all again next year in Melbourne.
