Thank you to those that joined us for the Continuous Improvement, Hard Work or Discipline session we hosted with Shaun Sunnasy from Adbri Cement. It was a pleasure to have everyone join the valuable peer-to-peer learning environment that SIRF Rt is known for.

A Special Thank You

Thank you to Shaun for today's session that focused on the journeys he has faced with the long-held belief that sustainable improvement comes from the disciplined and consistent application of the right methods over time.

Event Recap and Key Takeaways

The case studies that were discussed today provided opportunities for attendees to reflect on their organisation's improvement practices.

Key points included:

    • Sustainable CI is built through consistency, not heroic efforts, or short-term bursts of activity
    • Many improvement initiatives fail during sustainment, not because of poor tools, but because discipline and ownership are not embedded into daily practice
    • Organisations that achieve long-term success treat improvement as a governed process with clear ownership, structure, and cadence, much like safety or finance
    • Discipline is not an innate personality trait. It is a capability that can be developed and strengthened across all levels of an organisation
    • Systems, routines, and proven methods consistently outperform reliance on individual effort alone

A key reflection to carry forward:

Consider where greater ownership, governance, consistency, and structured review processes could strengthen the sustainability of your CI efforts.
